🐺 Princess Mononoke

Studio Ghibli’s beloved animated classic Princess Mononoke is getting a live-action adaptation, with none other than Zendaya stepping into the role of San, the fierce and enigmatic wolf princess. This ambitious project, announced by Warner Bros. in collaboration with Studio Ghibli, aims to bring the magic of Hayao Miyazaki’s 1997 masterpiece to a new audience while staying true to its timeless environmental and philosophical themes.

Zendaya, fresh off her critically acclaimed performances in Dune and Euphoria, shared her excitement for the role, stating, “San is a character with so much depth and strength, and I feel honored to bring her story to life for a new generation.”

Joining Zendaya in the cast is Oscar Isaac as Ashitaka, the cursed prince on a journey to broker peace between humanity and the natural world. Veteran actress Angela Bassett will voice Moro, the wolf goddess and San’s adoptive mother, bringing gravitas and wisdom to the role. Rounding out the cast is Willem Dafoe as the calculating industrialist Jiko-bo and Florence Pugh as Lady Eboshi, the complex leader of Iron Town.
