A new The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV spot has been shared online — featuring new footage of Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson debating the nature of wizards in the MCU. Played by Sebastian Stan, Bucky debuted as part of Captain America’s origin story before seemingly dying during a World War II mission. He would later be revealed to be alive during the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As the titular antagonist, he frequently clashed with his former friend. Ultimately, however, Cap was able to jog his memory and bring him back to the side of good. Played by Anthony Mackie, Sam (a.k.a. Falcon) first appeared in the same sequel. Together they returned alongside Steve Rogers in multiple adventures.
Following in the footsteps of WandaVision, the next Disney+ series will give the duo their time in the spotlight. Titled The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the show will follow Bucky and Sam in the wake of Cap’s retirement (and potential death). Equally, Sam will be forced to reckon with being entrusted with the Captain America mantle and shield. Based on previous footage, he will either reject the idea or have it forcefully taken from him by the government. Whatever the case, it will pave the way for John Walker (a.k.a U.S. Agent) to be chosen. Sam and Bucky will also be drawn into conflict with a terrorist group known as the Flag-Smashers. Equally, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will mark the return of Baron Zemo.
