The inspiration behind this video:
While Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac) may be Khonshu’s avatar for the moment in Marvel’s Moon Knight, his ex-wife Layla (May Calamawy) has proven just how powerful she would be as Marc’s replacement. While making Layla the next Moon Knight is something Khonshu has threatened should Marc refuse or fail the Egyptian moon god, it could become a real possibility in the episodes to come. To that end, she’s already displayed some impressive skills that would make her ideally suited for the role—perhaps being even stronger than Marc.
In Moon Knight episode 3, Marc and Layla reunite in Cairo after Khonshu failed to convince the other Egyptian gods of Arthur Harrow’s plans to resurrect the goddess Ammit. The former avatar of Khonshu also has the golden scarab to lead him right to her hidden tomb. Using a connection of Layla’s, the duo secures a meeting with Anton Mogart who possesses the sarcophagus of Senfu, a medjay who recorded the location of Ammit’s tomb should the gods ever change their minds about imprisoning her.
