The inspiration behind this video:
Tensions ran high in the premiere episode of House of The Dragon with apparent hatred brewing between two characters, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) and Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans). The pair were at odds on multiple fronts throughout the first episode, with Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) caught in the middle of their schemes amidst his own struggles as king. Daemon’s aim to unsettle Otto is readily apparent, but Otto’s hatred is left somewhat unexplained. The pilot episode of House of the Dragon explored the contemptuous relationship between House Hightower’s Hand of the King and the former heir to the Iron Throne that will continue to play out as the series progresses.
Daemon’s distaste for Otto is evident throughout the episode and is first seen in a small council meeting. Daemon goads Otto by making a snarky remark about Otto’s late wife. Otto seethes with loathing after this dig from Daemon, rising from his council chair. This probing from Daemon continued during the Heir’s Tournament. Daemon specifically elected to contend with Sir Gwayne Hightower among an array of knights from other houses. After besting Otto’s son, Daemon then asked for the favor of Otto’s daughter, Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey). These two choices from Daemon once again provoked Otto, eliciting sneers and glares of disdain.
House of the Dragon’s first season will have ten episodes, each of which will run for roughly one hour. Season 1’s tentative schedule is as follows:
