Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ final trailer is here, and it teases a massive war coming between the Autobots and the Terrorcons. Directed by Steven Caple Jr., the upcoming sequel draws heavily from the animated Beast Wars: Transformers spinoff series in 1996. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts introduces several new human protagonists into the mix, but also introduces new factions of Transformers, including the Maximals, Terrorcons, and Predacons.

Traditionally, the Transformers movies and shows have revolved around the eternal conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons. With the introduction of the Maximals, Terrorcons, and Predacons in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, however, this bifurcated conflict is about to become a lot more complex. The Predacons are the descendants of the Decepticons and served as the central villains in Beast Wars: Transformers. This faction frequently takes on the appearance of predatory amphibious, reptilian, and invertebrate animals, which includes dinosaur-like forms. The Predacons, then, will be firmly on the Decepticon side of the coming war. Terrorcons, too, were villains in the 1996 animated show, and appear as undead Transformers powered by Anti-Sparks.
