The Inspiration behind this video:
Though it may not be the extended trailer that was incidentally leaked earlier this month, the first official Five Nights at Freddy’s trailer does offer plenty of exciting insight for those who have eagerly awaited a film adaptation of the horror title. One of the biggest points of excitement seen in the video is the game-accurate designs of the animatronics, brought to life by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, who are making their horror genre debuts after primarily working on family-friendly efforts, including The Dark Crystal franchise.
The other major reveal from the Five Nights at Freddy’s teaser trailer is the first look at Matthew Lillard’s William Afton. Those familiar with the games will recognize him as the primary antagonist of the franchise, outside of the animatronics themselves, having created the Funtime Animatroniccs and being a child murderer, the spirits of whom would possess many of the killer animatronics. It’s unclear how much of this backstory the film will explore, though the quick glimpse of Hutcherson with a group of children seems to indicate it will be touched upon in some capacity.
