The Duffer Brothers have also teased the idea of a time jump for Stranger Thingsโ fifth season, which would put a huge spin on the showโs formula. Not only would it allow the narrative to finally catch up with the actorsโ real-life ages, but it would also give the show an opportunity to advance far into the future when the Upside Down has fully taken control of Hawkins. The central characters would also be irrevocably changed after a time jump, particularly if it covers several years. Itโs possible that their entire personalities will have changed, making the show completely different and unpredictable.
If this rumored time jump is true, it will be the biggest change that Stranger Things has seen since the showโs beginning in 2016. It suggests that Hawkins wonโt be able to overcome the threat of the Upside Down leaking into reality, leaving the showโs protagonists stranded in this post-apocalyptic society for an extended period of time before theyโre able to get their revenge against Vecna and hopefully save any others that have survived the event. Thereโs probably going to be much less mystery and investigation in Stranger Things season 5, focusing instead on the action and the relationships between these characters after such a long time apart from them.
