After years of speculation, a sequel to I, Robot may finally be in development, with Will Smith rumored to reprise his role as Detective Del Spooner. While details remain scarce, industry insiders suggest that the project could explore advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, and the ethical dilemmas of a fully automated future. Adding to the intrigue, reports indicate that tech mogul Elon Musk may play a key role in the film’s production—and possibly even appear on screen.
The original I, Robot (2004), loosely inspired by Isaac Asimov’s works, depicted a future where AI-driven humanoid robots became an integral part of society. The film ended with the rogue AI VIKI being shut down, but it also teased a potential uprising among the robots, led by the mysterious NS-5 unit, Sonny.
