Eternals will introduce the audience to Makkari, another superhero with superhuman speed, and her abilities can highlight how slow the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of Quicksilver was in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The MCU continues its expansion now that the Infinity Saga came to an end, and its highly-anticipated Phase 4 has finally begun. This new wave covers TV shows and movies, and on the latter’s side, the MCU will introduce a very interesting group of superheroes in Eternals, directed by Chloé Zhao.
The Eternals are a team of an immortal alien race created by the Celestials and who have been secretly living on Earth for thousands of years. The Eternals have guided humanity and done their best to not interfere with big events so they won’t be discovered, which explains why they didn’t do anything when Thanos’ snap happened. Eternals, then, will explore the team’s backstory and see its members reuniting to protect humanity from the Deviants, their evil counterparts. Starring as the Eternals are Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, and Lauren Ridloff, and the latter’s character can show how a deceased hero wasn’t as fast as everyone believed.
