Ethan Hawke confirmed some details about the character that he’ll be playing in the upcoming MCU Disney Plus series Moon Knight, and there’s a theory that he might be playing a villain called the Sun King. The Moon Knight series will be introducing a whole new character to the MCU. Ethan Hawke could be playing one of several villains as he is one of the many actors announced whose role in the series has not yet been confirmed.
The Moon Knight TV series is set to star Oscar Isaac as the titular character who often goes by the name Marc Spector. The character is an ex-marine turned mercenary who is left for dead but is saved and granted superpowers by the Egyptian god Khonshu. The character will require delicate handling by the MCU team as Moon Knight lives with dissociative identity disorder, and while Marc Spector is the primary, his alters Steven Grant and Jake Lockley sometimes take control. It would not be the first superhero show to deal with the topic however, as an earlier Marvel (but non-MCU) show, Legion followed David Haller, and DC’s Doom Patrol includes Jane, who lives with a version of dissociative identity disorder.
