John Adams’ & Thomas Jefferson’s Death | July 4th, 1826 | HBO Max

In one of the most coincidental and poignant events in American history, Founding Fathers John Adams (2nd President, 91 years old) and Thomas Jefferson (3rd President, 83 years old) both passed away on July 4, 1826 — the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Though Jefferson had died five hours earlier, Adams’ last words were, “Thomas Jefferson still survives.”
