The inspiration behind this video:
Marvel continues to use She-Hulk: Attorney At Law to set up the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, and the latest tease might indicate a major difference to DC’s Suicide Squad. For as much as She-Hulk is focused on Jennifer Walters and her legal career, the Disney+ show has seemingly been put in a position to tease the Thunderbolts repeatedly. Marvel finally confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 that the villain team will assemble in a 2024 movie. The announcement makes Abomination’s She-Hulk story and possible Thunderbolts setup all the more intriguing, especially since Marvel is doing so after two DC Suicide Squad films.
The DC Extended Universe beat the MCU to the punch of using a supervillain team thanks to Suicide Squad’s release in 2016, and James Gunn even soft rebooted the franchise in 2021 with The Suicide Squad. DC’s team uses popular and obscure villains from the comics who go on missions for the government in exchange for reduced prison sentences. They are all kept in check with a small explosive injected into their necks that will kill them if they disobey their orders. Even though Marvel’s original Thunderbolts concept in the comics is very different from this, questions about how the MCU will differentiate its villain team from DC’s Suicide Squad have persisted.
