A brand new Avatar: The Way of Water trailer is officially releasing tomorrow morning. It has been nearly 13 years since James Cameron released the first Avatar movie and made the biggest movie of all time. He has spent much of the last decade developing plans for the franchise’s future, which include four sequels, two of which are already completely filmed. The first of Avatar’s four sequels arrive later this year, as Avatar: The Way of Water debuts in December in theaters. The movie puts James Cameron back behind the camera and includes the returns of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang.
Disney debuted the first trailer for James Cameron’s highly anticipated blockbuster sequel earlier this year, as the Avatar 2 footage highlighted the film’s incredible visual effects. The trailer only gave viewers a tease of what the sequel’s story is about, though. Much of Avatar: The Way of Water takes place underwater or near water as the sequel introduces another colony of Na’vi on Pandora. It is known that the story also revolves around Jake Sully and Neytiri’s family. While much of this was teased in the first trailer, the teaser offered minimal dialogue and instead relied on the nostalgia of seeing Pandora again.
