The inspiration behind this video:
Captain Marvel’s personality could not fully shine in her first solo movie, but The Marvels is set up to avoid repeating this problem. The long-awaited debut of Carol Danvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe came in 2019, but the reception to Brie Larson’s character was a bit mixed. The MCU took the majority of Captain Marvel’s origin back to 1995 and saw her work for the Kree Empire as an elite soldier. However, it was through this narrative decision that some audiences found it difficult to connect to Carol Danvers.
Captain Marvel’s story limited how much of Carol’s personality the movie could really show. The cocky part of her attitude was seen throughout, but the fun-loving side of Larson’s character was more fleeting. This resulted from the MCU’s new Captain Marvel origin, which included brainwashing by the Kree to make her forget about her past on Earth. While not quite as emotionless as Bucky Barnes after Hydra’s brainwashing, it is still true that Captain Marvel served as a movie where Carol and audiences went on the same journey of trying to figure out who she really is.
