Simon Pegg’s appearance in The Boys season 4 is important for Hughie Campbell, but also has massive implications for Billy Butcher. The Boys season 4 is shaping up to be a Hughie-centric affair. Following confirmation that Rosemarie DeWitt has been cast as Hughie’s mother, Simon Pegg announced his The Boys return, completing the Campbell family reunion. DeWitt’s character abandoned her family, or so Hughie believes, long before The Boys began, so meeting his mother as an adult will inevitably be a mind-spinning experience. Rumors continue to suggest Hughie’s mother could be a secret supe.

Although Simon Pegg will return in The Boys season 4, his presence has never truly vanished. Pegg debuted as Hughie’s dad, Hugh Campbell Sr., in The Boys season 1, but after his son joined Butcher’s crew and became a wanted criminal, had little reason to appear onscreen. Pegg made a FaceTime cameo in The Boys season 3, revealing Hughie and his dad were on better terms, but the scene was little more than a touching moment of comedy before chaos ensued. With Simon Pegg’s Hugh Campbell Sr. making a proper return in The Boys season 4, Hughie is not the only character potentially in for a shock.
