The inspiration behind this video:
Hildur Guðnadóttir, composer for Joker: Folie à Deux, reveals that she is just beginning to work on the music for the upcoming musical sequel in her production update. Directed by Todd Phillips, Joker was released in 2019, and featured the classic Batman villain (played by Joaquin Phoenix) in a serious, psychological thriller film. A new kind of origin story for DC, Joker followed struggling comedian Arthur Fleck as he descended into severe mental illness, and ultimately becomes a murderous criminal. The film grossed $1.074 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated film in history. Though Joker was intended to be a standalone film, but the movie’s success lead to a sequel being announced in May 2021. It was revealed in June 2022 that the sequel film would be titled Joker: Folie à Deux.
In an interview with Variety, Joker’s Hildur Guðnadóttir offered a Joker: Folie à Deux production update. The Oscar-winning composer of the 2019 film revealed that she has just started working on the music set to be included in the musical sequel. Though it was confirmed that Joker: Folie à Deux would be a musical, Guðnadóttir did not give away whether she is working on the incidental score, or if she is involved with writing the film’s musical numbers.
