Captain America: New World Order rumors claim that Ross will become the Red Hulk in the movie, a choice that seems like the natural, expected outcome of the recasting. While the idea of having Ford act in a motion capture suit might seem unlikely at first glance, the actor has talked about how he took the role in order to have fun doing something he has never done before. Besides, the Hulk’s missed MCU opportunity with The Leader will finally be corrected in the new Captain America, and it will likely connect with Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross.

Tim Blake Nelson originally played scientist Samuel Sterns in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. By the end of the movie, the character had come into contact with the Hulk’s blood, which started to transform him into the Marvel Comics villain known as The Leader. Hurt’s return as Thunderbolt Ross in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War opened up the precedent for The Leader’s impending Captain America: New World Order role. The villain is rumored to play into the movie’s alleged Hulk-heavy plot, which would see Ford’s Ross become the MCU’s Red Hulk — maybe going on to appear as such in the Thunderbolts movie.
