While not much is known about the Basilisks in the established Star Wars canon, they did indeed exist during the Old Republic. In Legends, many were destroyed by the end of the Mandalorian Wars as a condition of the warriors’ surrender to the Old Republic’s Jedi Knight Revan. However, some refused and secretly kept their war mounts hidden.
If any of the Basilisk war droids are still operable during the time period of The Mandalorian season 3, they’d probably be found dormant on Mandalore itself. As such, it would be very exciting if some of the impressive mounts are discovered and used when and if the various Mandalorian clans unite to reclaim their homeworld (which is where the new season looks to be headed). All in all, It would be extremely poetic if such a powerful piece of Mandalorian history is used to secure the warriors’ future in the Star Wars galaxy.
