Inspiration behind this video:
Since Wednesday’s motivations were muddled in Wednesday season 1, the Netflix series risks running into even more problems down the road. Without a strong foundation for who exactly the character is, the continuity errors will only grow. Therefore, Wednesday season 2 needs to decide if its central character is truly pure chaos, as she is in the canon Addams Family comics, or if she is someone who cares about the consequences of her actions and how they affect those around her.
Since Wednesday is set in a more realistic world than The Addams Family, where Looney Tunes-style violence can happen without consequences, Wednesday’s character cannot possibly align entirely with canon. However, the idea that Wednesday’s worst fear is causing other people to be hurt needs to be scrapped. Instead, Wednesday season 2 can embrace the established concept that the young Nevermore student relishes causing pain to people who deserve it, but does not entirely understand that even innocent people might not covet pain in the same way she does.
