The inspiration behind this video:
The notion that Nick Fury would die in Secret Invasion has been a popular opinion, particularly after the trailers for the upcoming series were released. Scenes from the trailers show Fury no longer as the tough and steadfast character audiences know and love, but one skulking in the shadows and even neglecting to sport his trademark eye patch. At one point, Fury even visits his own gravestone, potentially foreshadowing a death during the series, and this could still happen despite his appearance in The Marvels in November.
It’s possible that the MCU’s Phase 5 is releasing out of chronological order, which could allow The Marvels to take place before Secret Invasion in Marvel Studios’ timeline. This would explain Fury’s cleaner appearance and residence on the SABER Space Station. Even if the projects are released in chronological order, it’s possible that Fury could die in Secret Invasion and be replaced by a Skrull, or potentially even a Life Model Decoy, as he has been known to use these replacements frequently in Marvel Comics. This would mean the Fury featured in The Marvels isn’t actually Fury at all, which would make for some intriguing storylines in the MCU’s future.
