The inspiration behind this video:

Seeing Unicron in all its glory in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts comes after Michael Bay’s movies already used the character, albeit in a surprising fashion. Transformers: The Last Knight revealed a twist that Unicron was Earth. This was revealed to be possible because the planet known as Earth formed around Unicron billions of years ago. Transformers: The Last Knight teased that Unicron was dormant as the Earth’s core, leaving Quintessa with a plan to drain its energy source to revive Cybertron. This plot ultimately failed, but Michael Bay’s movies concretely confirmed that Unicron was inside Earth.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ Unicron story does not line up with Transformers: The Last Knight at all, though. The new Transformers movie trailer shows the planet-eating villain attacking other planets. Scourge is positioned as Unicron’s herald and could come to Earth to determine if it is a worthy planet for the supersized villain to consume. It would take another Unicron-sized twist to the Transformers lore to make both films’ use of the villain make sense within the same continuity. There would either need to be two versions of Unicron or confirmation that Michael Bay’s last Transformers movie incorrectly identified another Transformer as Unicron.
