The inspiration behind this video:
Ben Affleck’s final Batman appearance might have been in The Flash, as the actor’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom role gets a disappointing update from the movie’s director. Affleck first played Bruce Wayne in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, appearing in multiple movies as the Dark Knight, but seeing his own solo film as Batman never materialize for a number of factors. After it was believed the actor was done with the role, Affleck made a comeback in The Flash, with an Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Batman appearance set to follow; however, that might not happen after all.
Speaking with Comicbook.com, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan seemingly confirmed that Affleck will not appear in the movie as Batman. Wan made it clear that the Aquaman sequel is taking a standalone approach, similar to the character’s first film, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom living “in its own world.” This conflicts with Aquaman star Jason Momoa saying he shot with Batman actors Affleck and Michael Keaton due to the DCEU shakeups, which indicates that both versions of Batman are out of the film.
“Well, Aquaman β even the first film β has always been a very standalone film. That was always our approach: that it kind of lives in its own world, and that’s kind of how we’ve approached The Lost Kingdom as well.”
