With a franchise as big as the MCU, it has been no stranger to inconsistencies in minor plot points. It’s hard to keep track of every piece of information that comes up in the universe, and Marvel might be banking on the fact that some fans have already forgotten about Nebula’s gift to Rocket. It’s entirely possible that Thunderbolts just won’t address Bucky ever missing his arm and act like he’s had his vibranium one all along, considering how the MCU has plenty of seemingly forgotten plotlines.

It’s still unknown what the Thunderbolts film will be about, so it’s hard to tell how big of a factor Bucky’s new arm will be in the story. It could be a potentially important plot point with the theories that the government offers him a new arm, especially if the arm is made of adamantium, or his new arm could just be used to set up a joke. Whichever way Marvel’s Thunderbolts chooses to address Bucky’s new prosthetic, the film can answer the question fans have had since the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
