One theory concerning the future of Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief after Loki season 2 teases a major connection to one coincidental and fortunate moment in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. After the original version of Loki in the MCU met his demise at the hands of the Mad Titan Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, the future of the God of Mischief was left unclear. The Avengers’ Time Heist in Endgame allowed a variant of Loki to be released, however, leading to the time-twisting events of Loki on Disney+. Loki has shown Tom Hiddleston’s former villain going through a huge redemption arc, which could lead to him becoming the MCU’s newest protector.
After their actions in Loki season 1’s finale caused the death of He Who Remains and the splintering of the Sacred Timeline, Loki, Owen Wilson’s Mobius, and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie hope to protect the stability of the multiverse in Phase 5’s Loki season 2. In planning to rebuild and reform the Time Variance Authority (TVA), Loki has well-and-truly become a hero in the MCU – a huge transformation since his debut in 2011’s Thor. Loki is becoming one of the most crucial figures in the MCU, and could be pivotal in saving the multiverse, but one unorthodox theory suggests audiences may have already seen Loki helping the MCU’s Avengers.
