The Winter Soldier is assembling a new Thunderbolts roster, complete with a shocking MCU recruit. Marvel has brought together a new incarnation of the venerable team, led by the Winter Soldier, ahead of their MCU debut. Just like the comics, the film will bring together some of Marvelβs dirtiest players, but with a few surprise recruits. Now, in Thunderbolts #1, fans meet one of the new members, who has deep ties to SHIELD.
Thunderbolts #1 is written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly and drawn by Geraldo Borges. In the bookβs opening pages, fans see the trail the Winter Soldier is leaving across the Marvel Universe in his pursuit of the Outer Circle. The trail leads him to former SHIELD agent Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. The Winter Soldier explains the last few months of his life, and asks Contessa to join him in tracking down the Outer Circle. The Contessa agrees, and a smiling Winter Soldier tells her βthis is justice. Like lightning.β
